Two years after the death of Virxilio Vieitez (Soutelo de Montes, Pontevedra, 1930-2008), an impressive retrospective of this photographer was inaugurated at MARCO. The existence of an important family archive that keeps all of his production, made an in-depth investigation possible. In addition to Vieitez's best-known works, a large number of unpublished works were presented, including color and vintage photographs, in a selection curated by the Italian Enrica Viganò, a specialist in photography.
The sample included a total of 293 photographs exhibited in rooms —261 in black and white and 32 in color— of which more than half were unpublished works, to which were added the 157 vintage exhibited in showcases. A biographical room and the projection of the documentary "Virxilio Vieitez. Beyond the trade" , made by José Luis López Linares in 2005, with interviews with Virxilio and his daughter Keta Vieitez, completed the expository discourse. This catalog collects with great fidelity that sample.
