With a brief career as a photographer, Tina Modotti was able to create an aesthetic of great forcefulness , becoming one of the main reporters of one of the most convulsive periods in the history of Mexico, the country in which she lived and where she died at 46 years.

Tina Modotti's photographic work is a reflection of her life, marked by rootlessness and independence . Modotti knew how to see the beauty of the imperfect and reflect it in his work. He developed all his photographic work between 1923 and 1930, years in which he lived in Mexico. His aesthetic had repercussions on the panorama of Mexican photography, in the same way that the painting of Diego Rivera, Orozco and Siqueiros influenced it. His photographic work is a paradigm of the fusion between Mexican revolutionary culture and avant-garde photographic aesthetics , to which he added the ideals of equality proposed by socialism and his marked social commitment.

Tina Modotti (Italy, 1896 - Mexico, 1942) was born in the city of Udine into a modest family. She was an immigrant in the US, actress, photographer, revolutionary, communist militant, political refugee and member of the International Red Aid. He founded the Anti-Fascist League of Mexico and collaborated with the Soviet embassy and with the Communist Party of Mexico in the writing of his newspaper El Machete. From a very young age she assumed the role of a free woman in opposition to the social imaginary of the time, and in the short time that her passionate existence lasted, she sought beauty through photography, and worked in favor of social justice through political militancy. .
