French photographer Alain Laboile is well known throughout the world among connoisseurs of black and white photography.
In her photobook, Summer of the Fawn , she once again gives us a glimpse into her family's freewheeling, almost fairytale-like life in a small town in southwestern France. Away from social constraints, school stress, and social media, it always seems to be summer here , and her six children frolic barefoot in an enchanted garden, in which one encounters cats, snakes, and even a fawn.
However, rules do exist, even in fairy tales; therefore, we also see how children are educated at home: sensibly and lovingly, and often in the open air. It is a beautiful, lively and at the same time melancholy ode to childhood and life .
