When we talk about Celeste Garrido we cannot help but remember the girl raised in her mother's sewing workshop, the self-made woman and the resounding artist, with a firm voice and a clear message. Your eyes say what your mouth is silent is the title of her exhibition at MARCO and serves to give a voice to all those women and girls who, from the most intimate of their homes, suffer realities that mark the course of their lives.
In the pages of this publication, the artist opens the doors of her soul to us in an accomplice talk with the curator Pilar Souto . An intimate, close interview, in which he starts from the environment that he knows best and that he never stops revisiting – his native Marín – to deal with global issues such as identity and gender issues. These postulates build a story around the theme of the body as material, as support, as subject and as receiver, with special allusion to the female body and dress as its symbol . Well, only through education from childhood will we be able to modify these roles.
