With an artistic career that spanned seven decades, Joan Miró (Barcelona, 1893 - Palma de Mallorca, 1983) was a polymath titan of modern art who created masterpieces in creative disciplines as diverse as painting, sculpture, art books, tapestries, and ceramics , and assimilated artistic influences as varied as Fauvism, Surrealism, Dadaism, magical realism, Cubism, and abstract art .

Throughout his prodigious creative activity, Miró never stopped evolving , trying to circumvent the categorization of his art and the approval of bourgeois art critics with the same impetus with which he searched for his own dream worlds. Miró, who burst into the public sphere in the early 1920s, first experimented with Fauvism and Cubism before developing his characteristic style of symbols and pictograms embodied in mysterious visual narratives in which references to Catalan life were frequent. . As his career progressed, Miró leaned towards surrealism and, although he never fully identified himself with this movement, he became one of its most recognized representatives with techniques such as automatic drawing, lyrical abstraction and color field painting. . In recent years he diversified his materials and worked with ceramics, fabrics and foundry.

Through its vivid colors, dreamlike fantasies, and enigmatic symbols, this book encompasses the many facets of Miró's kaleidoscopic oeuvre to present his fascinating career, his interaction with major modern movements, and the gestation of a modern legend.
