Lee Friedlander (Aberdeen, Washington, 1934) is one of the most influential photographers of our time and one of the masters of 20th-century American photography . Since the 1960s, Friedlander has been a tireless chronicler of his own world and his surroundings; his photographs, sophisticated and innovative, show unexpected or common aspects of everyday life.
This catalogue, published on the occasion of the exhibition held at Fundación MAPFRE in Madrid between September 2020 and January 2021, reproduces all the works on display and includes a main essay by the exhibition's curator, Carlos Gollonet, and a text by Nicholas Nixon , one of the most renowned photographers on the current international scene. Additionally, it features a conversation between Maria Friedlander and Jeffrey Fraenkel.
