The Prado is still, two hundred years later, an institution in which women are silenced and excluded . To the artists and visitors: all invisible and all blind to the absence of the female voice and experience. Why does the Prado National Museum ignore women? In the halls of the Spanish reference and in those of the rest of international institutions, the story that is praised in the 21st century is the same with which the 19th century told the world and built its interests. Frame by frame, this book reviews the patriarchal legacy that has survived to this day , although today we point it out as unjustifiable and reject any practice that widens the gap between men and women.

This is not a history of traditional art: it is a guide against absences, humiliations, euphemisms, silences and misrepresentations that have made half the population disappear, with hidden and visible violence . And this is also a story against blindness, a narrative about the political and social conditions that determine artistic creation and privilege them over them. It is time, in the face of the rise of fascism, for museums to assume their responsibilities and begin to practice critical thinking, refusing to take the framework of contempt and inequality for granted.
