The walk, the idea of walking through nature and the daily observation of the changes that originate in it constitute the axis of Jorge Barbi 's production. At MARCO, the artist from Pontevedra exhibited his recent photographic series, some of his previous works and various works designed specifically for the occasion. Sculptures, snapshots and site-specific installations far removed from the current evolution of the art market and linked to Barbi's personal introspection, poetry and conceptual art, make up the exhibition “ 41º 52' 59” latitude N | 8º 51' 12″ length O ”.
Barbi's work investigates the repercussions of the passage of time on objects, on our mechanisms of perception of nature and on the dialogue between form and content . His work mechanism is based on trips or walks, both physical and spiritual, that he takes along landscapes that he previously knows or that are linked to his childhood to check their evolution over time and the seasons. That nature and the animals, plants, stones, excrements and inorganic objects that populate it and their symbolic values are recorded by Barbi, who turns them into fragments of poetic and enigmatic resonances.
Space-time coordinates play a fundamental role in Jorge Barbi's production , and the capricious and fleeting forms that nature offers in an unrepeatable way are captured by the Galician to encourage the sensory experiences of the viewer through the symmetrical unfolding of these images with an object. to extract new designs of disturbing appearance.
The artist Barbi merges with the scientific Barbi and the poet Barbi in an archive of images taken over a decade.
