Alberto García-Alix collects in this Artist's Notebook his fantastic photographs recently taken at the Prado Museum. A collection of snapshots in which the author mixes different masterpieces from the art gallery to form new images that suggest other meanings and other textures. It is the new path, very personal and suggestive, that the photographer has undertaken with the restlessness and brilliance usual in him.
The artist's notebook that accompanies Matador magazine this year includes a series of evocative photographs by Alberto García-Alix taken at the Prado Museum. Using analog photography and through double exposures of fragments of the same work of art on a single negative, García-Alix creates a unique "fantasy" within the painting itself. Through various frames and overlays, the photographer reinterprets the work of art, maintaining the essence and character of the Prado pieces. Works by Goya, El Greco, Van der Weyden, Velázquez... through the filter of the camera of one of the great Spanish photographers, for whom the Prado Museum "is the best photography school".
