Photographer, writer, editor and exhibition curator, Alfred Stieglitz (1864–1946) was a visionary . In the early 20th century he founded Photo-Secession , a progressive movement concerned with advancing the creative possibilities of photography, and in 1903 he began editing Camera Work, an avant-garde magazine dedicated to expressing Photo-Secession ideas in both images and images. as in words.

Camera Work was the first photographic magazine with a visual rather than a technical focus , and with illustrations of the highest quality hand-gravure printed on Japanese paper. This book brings together a wide selection of 50 issues of the magazine.
