Brassaï (1899-1984) is one of the essential names within the group of European and American photographers who throughout the 20th century succeeded in redefining the identity and enriching the potential of photography as an artistic medium.
His work mainly highlights his work on Paris , the city in which he lived and of which he has left some of the most significant images recognized by the general public. Brassaï not only captured vital moments of everyday Paris, his photographs also reveal surprising details, contrasts, angles, perspectives and settings of the French capital, in a clear expression of the powerful artistic dimension of his gaze.
