A Pound of Pictures is a celebration of the photographic medium, bringing together an entirely new collection of Alec Soth 's works made between 2018 and 2021.

With a wide range of subjects - from Buddhist statues and bird watchers, to sun seekers and busts of Abe Lincoln - this book reflects on the photographic desire to crystallize experience, especially when it is represented and remembered through printed images.

Throughout this eclectic sequence of images are the recurring presences of iconography, of souvenirs and memories, and of the creators of images that surround us every day. Forming a winding and thoughtful road trip, Soth's photographs are followed by his own notes and reflections in a lengthy afterword . "Yes, the images in this book are about more than just their shiny surfaces," he writes, "they are about the process of their own creation. It is about stepping into an ecstatically specific world and creating a connection between the ephemeral (light, time) and the physical (the eyes, the film)".

Each book contains five random replicas of photographs inserted within the pages.
