' Wuhan before Wuhan ' gathers the process of transformation, both personal and photographic, of the Spanish photographer Jorquera , who arrived in the Chinese city in 2007, then unknown in the West. Jorquera had chosen a city in the interior of the country, far from megacities like Beijing or Shanghai, in order to settle down and generate links, to focus on a more encompassable space and stick to a context. But the lack of references and the lack of communication led him to isolation, and this to disorientation. Thus a more introspective journey arises, inward, in which Wuhan represents something very basic and at the same time universal: the search for identity .
