This beautiful volume, which accompanied a homonymous exhibition in the framework of PHotoEspaña 2018, presents a careful selection of portraits of the renowned photographer Cecil Beaton. This Londoner had before his objective the great figures of the 20th century, from the Shah of Persia to Mick Jagger, passing through film myths such as Marlon Brando, Marilyn Monroe or Elizabeth Taylor; political personalities like Kennedy or Churchill; fashion icons such as Christian Dior or Coco Chanel and mythical artists such as Picasso, Hockney or Georgia O’Keefe

Cecil Beaton began his career as a photographer by portraying his rich and famous friends, and achieved recognition with his first exhibition in London in 1926. He worked for Vogue magazine, for whom he made his first cover in July 1932 and where it would continue until the mid-1950s. He also collaborated with Harper's Bazaar and Vanity Fair .

He took numerous celebrity portraits in the Hollywood of the 1930s, and was an official portrait painter for the British royal family in 1937. In the early 1950s was in charge of photographing the magnificent party organized by the eccentric Spanish-Mexican billionaire Carlos de Beistegui in his palace in Venice. Later, he moved away from photography to devote himself to the elaboration of sets and costumes for the theater and for the cinema . Pages: 144
